Redesigning Blockchain Legal Tools for Usability | DLAR
Overview
DLAR (Digitally Leveraged Assets & Resources) is a Delaware C‑Corp—proudly Black, Brown, and woman‑owned—building blockchain-enabled legal and financial tools to empower global accessibility. I partnered with the founder and CTO on a freelance design project focused on streamlining their core user flows for digital agreements.
The Challenge
Design an intuitive, credible interface for creating and executing blockchain-backed legal agreements through DLAR’s flagship tool: the Digital Agreement Document (D.A.D.). The goal was to make legal contract creation feel secure and simple for both crypto-native and traditional users.
Solution
Delivered dev-ready mockups that clarified DLAR’s core value proposition
Stakeholders reported better comprehension in investor and user demos
Design system now serves as a baseline for future features, including planned tools for investment pools, bonds, and more
My Approach
Audited existing UX flows and navigation
Defined IA and interaction patterns for key contract tools
Designed responsive UI mockups with clear user guidance
Collaborated closely with the founder and CTO for alignment
Establish basic design system for faster implementation
Key Design Decisions
Contract-first onboarding: Positioned D.A.D. creation as the entry point to the DLAR ecosystem, with simple steps for writing, negotiating, and securing agreements.
Step-by-step UI: Broke complex legal flows into digestible screens with progressive disclosure and visual cues.
Trust-building layout: Used iconography, consistent spacing, and content hierarchy to reduce user anxiety around legal actions.
Results & What's Next
Delivered a streamlined design for DLAR’s core agreement flow (D.A.D.), making complex blockchain actions feel simple.
Design system now informs future modules and feature rollouts.
Future iterations will include smart contract templates, expanded user roles, and full productization of upcoming tools like pooled investments.
